Ruth and Esther was created out of a need for a safe place to discuss our common trials, given our belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many of us have been grievously injured, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, as the result of others' unrighteous use of their agency.

While it is important to understand the effect sexual abuse has on our lives, we do not feel it helpful to dwell on the specific details of the abuse in our posts. We do realize that such discussion is necessary and important, we just ask that discretion be used when addressing the many sensitive topics related to our abuse.

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we recognize the Prophet as having the final authority on matters concerning the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Speaking ill of Church leaders will not be permitted. We consider the Temple Ceremony to be sacred, and we do not discuss here the ordinances which are performed therein.

Vulgar, rude, rough, language and off-color humor will not be permitted. In our replies to others we strive for kindness and we treat others as the precious children of God that we are. We avoid "flames", attack, accusations, and contention, opting instead to work out differences of opinion in a way that would foster the presence of the Spirit of the Lord.

Should any of us take offense at anothers' comments, we attempt to resolve our difficulties in private email with that person. If desired, the moderators are available to look into the matter.

In light of the sensitive nature of our discussions, we place a high premium on confidentiality. At no time will names, personal information, or personal posted comments be discussed with anyone not on this list, without the express written permission of the author. Members of this list will not be contacted by phone or in person by any other member, without the member's permission. Violation of this provision is grounds for immediate removal from the list.

While our list is specifically geared to Latter Day Saint women, we welcome all women who have been affected by sexual abuse. We agree that we all have different backgrounds, and as a result, may hold differing beliefs and views. We believe that differences are good, and recognize that each of us is free to believe and conduct herself as she wishes. We do not use this list as a forum to convert others to our belief system.

Allowing one's name to remain on the mailing list constitutes acceptance and agreement to uphold this charter.
