Clean-LDS is a resource for the support of those struggling to overcome pornography addiction or abuse, using the framework of the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Pornography, with its sleazy filth, sweeps over the earth like a horrible, engulfing tide. It is poison. Do not watch it or read it. It will destroy you if you do. It will take from you your self-respect. It will rob you of a sense of the beauties of life. It will tear you down and pull you into a slough of evil thoughts and possibly of evil actions. Stay away from it. Shun it as you would a foul disease, for it is just as deadly.
President Gordon B. Hinckley,
President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Description

In General Conference of October, 1997, President Gordon B. Hinckley, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had the following to say about the problem of pornography in our modern world:

"You live in a world of terrible temptations. Be virtuous in thought and in deed. God has planted in you, for a purpose, a divine urge which may be easily subverted to evil and destructive ends. When you are young, do not get involved in steady dating. When you reach an age where you think of marriage, then is the time to become so involved. But you boys who are in high school don't need this, and neither do the girls." (President Gordon B. Hinckley, General Conference, October 1997, Priesthood Session)

Clean-LDS is a resource for the support of those struggling to overcome pornography addiction or abuse, and their families, using the framework of the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The resource includes the web site with this introduction, and associated references, and the electronic mailing lists: Clean-LDS, Clean-Support, and Clean-LDS-Women.

Many people struggle with an interest or addiction to pornography or abuse of the same.  Because of some of the things Rex Goode has written on the Internet regarding his struggles with same-sex attraction, many who have struggled with pornography addictions have contacted him. Their struggles are sometimes added to by difficulty with same-sex attraction, but are often more related to opposite-sex pornographic materials.

Rex searched the Internet for resources available to LDS men and women who struggle with addiction or interest in pornography and desire to remove this problem from their lives, but without results.  Hence, the creation of the Clean-LDS resource.  Although Rex initiated this resource, many people are helping refine it, in an effort to reach out and help others like themselves, willing in spirit and sometimes weak in the flesh.

Not long after the establishment of Clean-LDS for those who struggle directly with pornography, Clean-Support was founded as a resource for those who are married to someone who struggles with pornography.

The most recent addition to this suite of resources is Clean-Marriage. Clean-Marriage is for married people, whether struggler or married to a struggler, to discuss relevant topics for dealing with this problem in the context of marriage.
